The smallest organ in the School of Music and Musicology was built by Ålems orgelverkstad (Sune Fondell) in Ålem. The organ builder himself describes the instrument:
"In terms of tone and appearance the new organ at the Göteborg School of Music and Musicology is inspired by early 19th century Swedish orgran building. The organ is manufactured using Swedish wood, predominantly pine, although there are also elements of maple and oak (mainly in smaller mechanical parts). In an attempt to recapture the old, majestic tone we have employed classic methods in our work with the whole instrument. One example of this is that the whole organ, with the exception of the base of the slider chest, has been built of solid wood, generously proportioned.
As with all our organs, this organ has a so-called independent bellow system with one large parallel bellows located in the base of the organ. The key action is also made of wood with pine rollers and roller arms with hole edgings in hard leather. We have worked in the principle of having a minimum of felt in the mechanism with an acceptable 'rattle level' for this small room. The pallet valves are only lined with leather and have been proportioned in such a way that the organist feels the pressure point against the air and is able to influence the initial transient of the tone. The slider chest is made of two pallet boxes, with the channels placed within the same grid frame. All the pipes, including Subbas 16', are placed on the slider chest inside the organ case. The organ has a relatively large proportrion of wooden pipes (84 of 344). The wooden pipes are made of close-grained pine while the metal pipes are made of a 30% tin/lead alloy (façade pipes 70% tin).
The pipes have been voiced according to principles giving prominence to the fundamental: high cut-ups and nicking. The specification, with devided stops, permits a broader repertoire and provides futher potential with 16' + 8' in the pedal (Flöjt 8' 'borrowed' from Gedackt 8' bass).
Our aim when building this type of organ is that its specification and voicing should make it a relatively versatile church service instrument that can fulfill its function when for reasons of space and cost a larger, two-manual organ cannot be built. Hopefully the students at the School of Music and Musicology can also learn to bring out the one-manual organ's potential and, above all, develop a positive approach to this type of instrument, of which there are many, particularly bearing in mind our historical organs."

More information about the organ:

The Brombaugh-organ is situated in the north transept gallery of the Haga Church in Göteborg. It was installed in the church towards the end of 1991. The inauguration took place on March 8, 1992.
The organ has, to a great extent, been patterned on North German instruments from the early 17th century. One example of this is the organ front, modelled on the Rückpositiv of Marten de Mare's organ from 1611 in the Ansgari Church in Bremen. The organ case is mainly in Appalachian white oak and the alloys of the pipework contain, according to historical patterns, a high proportion of lead.
Wind is supplied by two wedge bellows.
The planning and realization of the instrument has been carried out by the parish of Haga and the School of Music and Musicology of Göteborg in close cooperation. It is being financed by many contributions from individuals as well as other sponsors. The Brombaugh-organ has been built in a time of growing interest in early Baroque performing practice with regard to repertory, improvisation and - not least - the kind of congregational singing that once contributed to the development of this kind of colourful and impressive instrument.
